Maddison grew up locally in the Lower Mainland, surrounded by animals of all types since she was born. She always knew she was passionate about having a career working with animals and impacting people positively. Starting off in the equine industry, working as a show jumping groom and stable hand travelling throughout Canada and the USA, Maddison eventually made the switch over to working with small animals as a career and never looked back. She started off working as a Veterinary Assistant and then transitioned to working in animal shelters. Maddison has worked for over eight years in municipal animal shelter management, overseeing animal welfare, veterinary care, and various community programs and initiatives. She particularly enjoyed working with feral cats, helping people in times of need or emergencies, and finding animals their forever homes.
Recently, Maddison decided it was time for a new challenge and joined the team at Bridgeway. She enjoys getting to meet all of the lovely patients and their families, and helping each pet to feel comfortable and safe.
Outside of work, Maddison spends most of her time with her partner and their menagerie of pets, working out at the gym, or she can be found at the barn with her horse, Savvy. She is very involved in animal rescue and has an affinity for special needs Chihuahuas. She can usually be found fostering or caring for one of these Chihuahuas, and particularly enjoys palliative or end of life care for dogs that would otherwise be left behind in the shelter system.
