Infection Prevention:
As surgeons designing and building our ultimate, dream hospital, we wanted to incorporate state-of-the-art infection prevention technologies. In addition to the factors cited below, each operating room has its own HVAC unit with an Ultraviolet Light that shines across the ceiling, killing all airborne bacteria and viruses.
Our project engineer made the following comments: “The Operating Room HVAC systems provided for the Royal Ave project are better than I’ve ever seen for veterinary hospitals”
Ventilation Rate: Has been specifically designed to ASHRAE 62.1 for veterinary hospital operating rooms. Surprisingly this is not commonly applied to other vet hospital designs I’ve seen. For context, we are providing about 3 times more ventilation than I typically see in this application. Furthermore, we are positively pressurizing OR rooms to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
